My Thoughts On The Cricut Joy
I absolutely love combining technology and crafting to make things easier and to go farther faster! Enter this little blue beauty. The Cricut Joy is the latest machine in the Cricut machine line up. While the width that it can cut is limited to 4.5 inches, if can cut single images up to four feet long. Additionally, if you want to cut a repeating pattern (say, for a border) it can cut up to 20 feet long.
Besides its impressive cutting length its size makes it super portable. I have packed it up in my Cricut Joy travel bag with a few of the mats and was able to take it with me It is so much easier to craft on the go with this little guy vs. lugging one of my bigger Cricuts out.
I also like it because it is small enough for my younger kids to use and they are less intimidated because all of the controls are on the iPad or phone screen vs. having to know what options to choose on the machine and on the device.
The question is often asked…which machine should I choose…well that depends. What do you want to do? I think of the Cricut Joy as a companion device to either the Cricut Explore Air or the Cricut Maker. The reason is because while the little machine is a powerhouse (it can cut over 50 different materials) I still want to be able to cut wood, fabric and use print then cut (which the joy does not currently support). However, I don’t think twice about taking the joy with me on a long weekend just in case I get the crafting itch.
I also think this is the perfect size for the occasional crafter, teacher, or creative kiddo in your life…at just under $180, it isn’t cheap, but it is worth the cost in my opinion.
Tell me in the comments if you have the joy and what you like about it or if you are on the fence and can’t decide whether to take the plunge.
